My daughter and I are at an interesting point in our relationship.
She is starting to experience what it's like to be me.
She asks questions like "Why do all the neighbors hate you?"
When I tell her, she understands.
I hear stories about how her classmates make assumptions about her social life that couldn't be farther from the truth. And I admit my peer group does the same to me.
This adds a new level of empathy and understanding to our relationship that few, if any, others could truly understand.
And it brings us closer.
